Only 64-bit operating system are supported. 32-bit operating system are not supported anymore.
Differences between desktop and server operation systems have not been observed so far.
Microsoft Windows® 10 - 1909 oder neuer (Pro, Enterprise) 64 Bit
Microsoft Windows Server® 2012 (Standard, Datacenter) 64 Bit
Microsoft Windows Server® 2012 R2 (Standard, Datacenter) 64 Bit
Microsoft Windows Server® 2016 (Standard, Datacenter) 64 Bit
Microsoft Windows Server® 2019 (Standard, Datacenter) 64 Bit (recommended)
We recommend a single-processor server with four or more cores, because:
Two cores offer considerably less power at a very small cost savings.
Even considering a high data load or a high amount of cameras a single CPU (with six or eight cores) is still sufficient.
Multi-core systems are obviously more cost intensive.
Although current CPUs support a theoretical throughput of 100 MByte/sec in DM and MDS, this can still lead to performance problems beyond 50 MByte/sec in the network and especially in storage.
Our recommendation is as follows:
CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60GHz or Intel Xeon E-2186G @ 3.80GHz or Intel Xeon E-2276G @ 3.80GHz
RAM: 16 GB
Graphics cards: Radeon™ Pro WX 5100 or similar, at least 4GB DDR5 RAM (or more), memory bandwidth at least 100 GB/sec or better with the corresponding number of outputs. This corresponds for example to each of the following display configurations:
80 cameras, 320 x 240 @ 512 kbps CBR and 25 fps
72 cameras, 640 x 480 @ 1024 kbps CBR and 25 fps
52 cameras, 704 x 480/704 x 576 @ 2048 kbps CBR and 25 fps
Monitor: For the client we recommend a monitor resolution of Full HD (1920 x 1080) or better.
The above mentioned number of cameras was distributed over 4 displays.
The calculated bit rate is based on experience data as well as on evaluation of common camera models.
Please note that the bit rate may differ despite the fact that all cameras are set up the same way, if you use cameras from different manufacturers. Therefore, the calculated bit rate is just an average that shall give you an indication.
For more precise bit rate information please get in touch with the camera manufacturer of your choice.
